Have You Fallen Victim to Attic Mold? Call Kozy Collar!

Have you recently discovered mold hiding in the dark, wet corners of your attic? You probably have plenty of questions as to how the mold got there in the first place. Our team at Kozy Kollar is here to lend a helping hand during this challenging time with knowledge and assistance to your issue.

Why is there mold in my attic?

There are a couple of different reasons why you have found mold in your attic. Two of the biggest reasons can be a leak in your roof, or your attic could have a ventilation problem. Most types of mold thrive in damp and humid conditions. You will be relieved to know that mold doesn’t grow as fast in the winter months as it does in the warmer months of summer. However, if the mold is located in the attic, you will have to remember that in homes, heat rises.

Is attic mold dangerous?

The answer to this question depends on the type of mold. There are approximately thousands of different kinds of mold, each being a different level of whether or not they are toxic to breathe. Because the mold is located in the attic and away from the inhabitance of your home, it may not be a direct threat, but that does not mean that you can ignore it together. Technically, all types of mold can pose a danger to the structure of your home. Mold can eat away at the materials used to build your home and may even find a way to travel downwards to damage more of your home.

How to get rid of attic mold?

This is where Kozy Kollar comes in. Once you find the source of the mold, you will be able to eliminate the source so that you can get it cleaned up properly. Once everything is taken care of, there may still be a stain of where the mold was. But, since the leak was fixed or the ventilation issue has been resolved, the chances are that the mold will not be coming back any time soon. At Kozy Kollar, we have developed a handful of kits to help with leaky roofs and attic ventilation. One person can easily install both kits in the span of 10 to 15 minutes! In addition, you can install the kits in any weather without the need to bring out the ladder; both installations happen under the roof.
